Death by Poison.
Several week* ago Miss Mittie
Clark, a Colleton belle of one of
the rural district! near the Btech
Hill community took a poison
and died a few hours afterwards,
this endinc her days here in a
moat tragio manner.. AH was
done for restoration and recovery,
but witbont avail. She bad
prepared the poison and took it
from a cup, placing the cup iu
an elevated place, with intruc-
tiona to a girl not to use it again.
She had attended a dance the
prvions night and had appeared
well and happy, not like one
tried of her planetary existance
here and eras meditating upon
and planning for immediate
removal to that other shore the
world beyond, from whence
there is no return.

Fjr the past two weeks a pro-
tractive meeting, has been going
on iu our little town, and will
continue until Sunday. Rev
Elzie Myers, Pastor of the Metho

assisted our popular young
minister. Rev Greigg Vaughan,
owing to some misunderstand
ing, Rev Myers was called back
to his charge last Saturday, much
to the regret of the people, as he
had made many friends, iiis
eloquent sermons won for him
the admiration of tho people.
Rev Vaughan was fortunate
enough to get Kev Thomas H
Leitch, the great evangelist of
Charleston. The people of
Kaveuel, and surrounding
country are proud to have him
with them. The meeting will
end Suuday, much to the regret
of all.
