The House passed a bill creating
the 11th judicial circuit. ° This bill
has been amended in the Senate by
adding a.l2th. It is very doubtful
if the House will agree to this addi
tion.
The Appropriation bill as .passed
in the House pushes the figures up
to $200,000 above last year and hence
the tax levy will be 51-2 mills instead
of 41-2 as it was last year.
There is now a ResolutLn before
ua to extend the session 10 days be
yond the limit. But 1 think this
would be unwise, if we had adopt
ed a Resolution on the first day of
the session to adjourn at the end of
ten day* 1 think the State would
have been better oft*. In that time
the Appropriation bill could have
been formulated and passed, and
would very probably have been very
much^maller and hence very muen
more satisfactory.
Now, Mr. Editor, you may decide
that 1 am in a grumbling mood, but
m/ weakness has always been to
state frets just as I see them, even
though I chop my own toes in the
statement. «

The many relatives and friends of
Mrs J C Strickland, of Stokes will be
pained to learn of her death which
occurred at her home Thursday
afterapon at one o’clock. She had
been ill only about a week and the
immediate cause of her death was
heart failure, though she had been
in failing health for some dme.
Mn Strickland was 60 yean old
and had been married 42 yeers, ~8he
was a member of the Sen Baptist
ohurch and was well known and
loved by all who knew her. She al-
