None of our people have gone anywhere nor has anyone come to see us lately, so you see there is no new s. The fact is, the roads are in such a miserable condition (thanks to the recent rains and our new road law) that one con not come or go unless he posess wings. Our roads are in the worst fix that 1 have ever seen them The people around here are thor oughly disgusted with the present road law. We all paid the tax and dib not get any work on our roads. A. few of us turned out last week and worked a day on the roads but it is hard to get anyone to do any thing as they all claim that having paid their tax they have no right to do any work on the roads. I see in your last issue that vrey few are paying the tax this year and I think the people are right as the past year has proved the law to be a genuine fake so far as 1 have been able to see. Of course the money has been spent but if it has done any good in this section we have not been able to diskiVer, it. However I am sure that our delegation will give us re lief at the present session of the legislature. If they would get the road law and lien law repealed I am sure their constituents would say, well done. J. Maple Cane. S. C. Jan. 13th 1908 An Unfortunate Affair.
