people of this city are greatly excited

which have been effected by
waaltby philanthropist by the name
of Cooper.
His headpuarters at The Public
I>rug Store is besieged with crouds
of men and women eager to be cured
of their ills.
Cooper is a quiet, gentlemanly per
son, with the appearance of a student
rather than a business man. He is
spparently about thirty-one or two
years of age. He first came into pub
lic notice by his philanthropic work
among the poor. The large fortune
be possesses has made it possible for
him to distribute many wagon—loads
of food and clothing among those in
indigent circumstances since his am

The first that was known of Coop
er*s power over disease was when Mr
John Stanber, of ICO? Broadway,
Cincinnati Ohio, who was in this
city on bnsine«, declared that Coop
er, the philanthropist, was the same
person who save bis life last March,
after he had been given np to die by
bis pbysicians. Mr Stauber stated
that last March the doctors had told
him be wonld not live nntil May, as
he was in a terrible condition; every
one said he bad consumptiotf; he had
a nasty ooogb, with frequent hemor
rhagee dizzy spell#, and was so .weak
that the least exertion or excitement
wonld completely prostrate him;
there were severe pains in the
itomcb and back, and hii kidneys
were in bad condition.
‘•After my physicians gave me up”
said Mr Stauber, “Mr Cooper heard
of my case and called to see me. He
left a peculiar medicine which I be
gan taking I immediately began to
improve. My cough stopped, mv

my kidneys were in perfect condition
