LOCKHART JUNCTION ^ I have just returned from Spartan burg, where I have been visiting m; son-in-law. and daughter, Mr. am Mrs. W. C. Edmonds. The rural policemen and other po lice of Union were on duty at Lock hart Junction last night and capture some of the colored folks and fount the deadly weapon, the pistol, on thei person. There was an old colored man whon none of us around here would eve thought would have been guilty o "toting" a gun, for he was old enougl to know better, and has been one thi white folks have had confidence in. I am glad to know our rural police men are on the job and I say put i stop to this. I am glad to know th< law is being enforced; come up agaii around on our good roads about Rock] Creek, Lockhart Junction and Kelly'" and look after the speed limit. Every law abiding citizen should trj to keep within the speed limit unlesi he ha? a good reason for it. This travelling around on the goo< roads just because they are goo< roads, at the rate of 40 or 50 miles ai hour and even more, which some ar? ' doing, is very dangerous. If two au tomobiles have a collision going al that rate somebody would get killed Of course, accidents might happer while running slow but are much mor< dangerous when running fast. J. W. Cox, of Johnson, S. C., is visiting his sister, Mrs. Walter Hames of Jonesville. \ Mr. Boyce White, of Johnson City Tenn., visited his parents last week and has now gone to Charlotte, N. C The several young ladies who ar< attending summer school at Winthroj have written Moxy, all on a post card They are Misses Reaves, Garner, Bea vis and some others wrote to guess who, so I don't know their names, am glad they all thought of Moxy. Mr. James Whitehead told me of i suspicious white man that came thri Bogansville township some time ag< uioif in/a lirvmnc /vf aounvnl /->f 4-Vti vioinn^ V1IC IIVHIVO U1 otf Viai VI Vll' colored people of that section. Mr. Wnitehead, who is on the watch out, made some inquiries of the colore< folks around there to find out wha was his business, but none seemed t< know or would not tell. So he mad< it convenient to see him and said tin fellow was a very smart man, said h< told him he believed he was a lawyer but the man said not; he seemed t< dodge questions. Mr. Whitehead sai< he seemed to be nervous or excite< when he began to question him' and hai not been back since nor has he beei heard ofNow, I will say to the colored folks "Beware of such characters as this he may lead you into trouble." Th< white men of this country are you: friends |f you will do right but don' let someone whom you don't knov come in and fool you into trouble. Yo\ never know, the devil is always busy The reading colored folks are prett; well up on things for they keep post ed by reading. They are not likel; to be fooled so easily as the one whi do not read. Moxy. ABOUT DIGESTION Digestion begins in the mouth.
