November Report Shows Plenty of
Activity.
Revenue agents in South Carolina
spent a busy month during November,
assessing taxes and penalties amounting
to over $65,000 and destroying
over 16,000 gallons of beer as well as
being active along other lines, according
to the report of the month
just closed received by the internal
revenue officer from S. k. tframe,
chief prohibition agent of the .Southern
district.
These agents seize much property
and assess taxes and penalties to
large amounts every month. The report
of Mr. Brame for this state
shows that 53 illicit distilleries were
seized and destroyed during the
month and that 4 0 stills were destroyed.
Several worms, 237 gallons of
liquor, 214 ferraenters, 16,045 gallons;
of beer, six automobiles, and one ve-1

Some Conscience! Pays Back Taxes.
Philadelphia. Dec. 18.?A troubled
conscience today resulted in the sending
of a typewritten anonymous note
to the receiver of taxes with $2,250
in cash. "For back personal taxes improperly
made out, due the city and
state," the note read.
This is the equivalent of taxes at
four mills on an excess of $500,000
of personal nroperty.
No conscience has ever before been
so troubled as to pay that amount
owed the citv without the prospectus
of detection. |

MAKES HANDSOME PROFIT.
First National Bank Directors Declare
Dividend.?Fine Condition.
At a meeting of the directors of
the First National Bank on Wednesday,
December 15th, it was decided
to pay an eight per cent, dividend,
leaving a nice sum to go to surplus
and undivided profits. This institution
was converted into a national
bank in May of this year, being the
only national bank in Bamberg county.
The stockholders and directors
have pulled together, and the results
are shown by their showing for the
first year's business. The bank will
show, it was stated, a profit of nearly
.of nearly 25 per cent, for this
year, witnout a dollar's loss since
converting, besides having charged
off $1,250 before being converted.
This is an unusual showing, especially
in a year like the present one.
The bank is being run along broad
lines, for the good of the town and
county and it has the best wishes
of the people generally for many
years of successful endeavor.
GET MORE BUTTER.
Mrs. Hattie Meece, of Glenn, Missouri,
says: "1 was not making
enough butter from my cow's milk
production for a family of two. After
using Dr. LeGear's Stock Powders
a short time, she gave a half
gallon more milk a day, and a pound
of butter a day."
Dr. LeGear's Stock Powders give
to milk cows just what is needed
to keep the digestive organs in proper
condition, so that they get the
most possible good from their feed.
Give equally wonderful results when
used for horses, hogs, and sheep, hecause
they are a tonic, appetizer and
worm expeller.
It matters not what ailment you
may have among your stock or poultry,
it will pay you to get the proper
Dr. LeGear Remedy from your

D. V. Williams, wife of a well-known
fanner on Route 6, this place. "I

describing the troubles from which
she obtained relief through the use of
Cardui. "My husband, haying heard
of Cardui, proposed getting it for me.
"I saw after taking some Cardui
... that I was improving. The result
was surprising. I felt like a different
person.
"Later I suffered from weakness
and weak back, and felt all run-down.
I did not rest well at night, I was so
nervous and cross. My husband said
he would get me some Cardui, which
he did. It strengthened me . . My
doctor said I got along fine. I was in
good healthy condition. I cannot
say too much for it"
Thousands of women have suffered
as Mrs. Williams describes, until they
found relief from the use of CarduL
Since it has helped so many, you
should not hesitate to try Cardui if
troubled with womanly ailments.
