Brabham returned home last week from Glenn Springs. ?Young Linder and Lloyd McMillan, of Varnville, visited friends'here Sunday. ?Col. and Mrs. W. A. Klauber have gone to Brevard, N. Murphy has returned home after a visit of several weeks to relatives in the upper part of the state. ?James E. Hitt is visiting in the city en route to his home in Florida from a vacation trip to Pennsylvania. ?Mrs. J. A. Murdaugh and Miss Hattie Newsom have returned from the mountains, where they spent a few weeks. ?Mrs. C. H. Mitchell and little daughter have returned to the city after several days visit to relatives in Columbia. ?Mrs. Sam Zimmerman returned to her home in the city Friday after spending several weeks at Hendersonville, X. C. ?Mrs. C. F. Kilgus has returned home from Latta, where she was recently called on account of the death of a near relative. ?Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Free returned last week from Savannah, where they spent some time with Mrs. Free's aunt, Mrs. C. F. Ellzey. ?Mrs. J. Ham Kirkland and children, who have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Kirkland, have returned to their home in Lakeland, Fla. ?Mrs. W. E. Spann and Misses Roberta Johnson and Pearl Counts left this week for the North Carolina - mountains to spend a few weeks. ?Mrs. J. J. Jones left several days ago for a trip to New York and other northern cities, in company with a party from Olar. returning Tuesday. ?Rev. P. K. Rhoad, pastor of Providence Methodist ichurch 'near Holly Hill, with his family is spending some time in the city with relatives. ?G. A. Ducker, who has been at Hot Springs for several weeks is now in Columbia, where he will remain for treatment a while before returning to Bamberg. ?Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Cudiff, of Savannah, and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Harrison and M'ilson Harrison, of Augusta, spent the past week-end in the city with relatives. ?Mr. and Mrs. .T T. Herndon. of Charleston, spent several days in the city this week with relatives. They were on their return trip home from the north, where they spent some | time. ?Garris Zeigler has gone to Cliarl leston to accept a position in a drug k store. Mr. Zeigler has received an | appointment to a scholarship in phar" macy at the medical college which he will enter in the fall. r j ?J. A. Spann returned last week | from Baltimore, where he was operatated on recently. He spent four weeks in the hospital, and his many friends will be glad to know that he i | is now rapidly recovering his usual ! health. mm Khrhardt Wins One. Ehrhardt, Aug. 1 S?Tuesday, the seventeenth, the Ehrhardt team, whicfi is composed entirely of boys irom witnin tne town limits, defeated Bamberg with her professionals in the game. The fielding of Large featured for Bamberg. Ehrhardt's southpaw, Purcell, had the opposing batsmen at his mercy during the entire game, eighteen Bamberg stick weilders wiffed at the ball while it was passing. The rest could only j garner one safe hit which was the re-j suit of an amusing fluke. Roberts, the best all round player on the Ehr-j hardt team, decided that outfielders j were unnecessary so he strolled over; to the score board and began helping: mark up. Then Robert's woeful lack of experience became evident as the next man up hit a fly to center and it fell in the place that he had left. Roberts did not find it out until it had hit the ground. This hit passed for a two bagger, a wild throw allowed the runner to bring in Bamberg's lone tally. It was observed on the sidelines that Purcell seemed to be letting the poor batters hit the ball while among the eighteen that he struck out Bamberg, Rentz and Large , were written more than once. Bamberg used three pitchers and they succeeded in holding Ehrhardt to four runs. The final score being 4 to 1. This is the second game played between the two teams, both at Bamberg.
