The reason for this contest is this: Last fall when cotton was selling for two or three cents a pound less than it cost to raise it, a large number of our best subscribers could not pay for their paper. The Herald came to their rescue and carried their subscriptions over , until this fall, with the result that we now have a great many whose subscriptions are in arrears.
