To Change Hangman's Knot. ^ 4 Atlanta, Oct. 12.?The next man tl who is legally hanged in Atlanta may tl enjoy the unique experience of dying t( with the knot adjusted under his l? right jaw instead of against the jug- & ular vein on the left. oi County officials are much interest- C( ed in the announcement of the British ^ * scientists who have investigated e] hanging, to the effect that while the g old-fashioned system of having the S el knot on the left may or may not ^ break the neck, that the knot adjusted under the right part of the chin, a: " at the point of the jaw, is invariably ceitain to, produce immediate unconsciousness through the same process _ as the boxer's "knockout" blow on the point of the jaw. * This method has never been tried ? in Georgia or anywhere else in' the p ,< South so far as is known in the Ful- C ton county sheriff's office. w A full investigation of the scien- ^ tific accuracy of these statements will V( be made, and- if they prove true, the fr - ? CALL OFF STRIKE. \ Officials and Labor Men Agree to Arbitration. \ Augusta, Ga., Oct. 12.?The Georgia strike was officially called off by - the striking organizations to-night at 9:30 o'clock and announcement made ? that all passenger trains will be operated on all branches of the Georgia Road to-morrow, with the regular crews "back on the jobs." The following announcement was made public by W. S. Brand, superintendent of the Georgia Railroad, at 5:30, Eastern time, this afternoon. "Through the mediation of Dr. Charles P. Neill, commissioner of labor, an agreement was reached between the Atlanta joint terminals and * the representatives of the striking employes thereof late this afternoon. This makes it possible for Commissioner Neill to now negotiate with the Georgia Railroad the terms for arbitrating the questions which led the conductors, trainmen and yardmen in the service of the Georgia Koad to strike. I "Dr. Neill leaves Atlanta for Au- If * gusta to-night, and on arrival at Au- e gusta Sunday will meet General Man- I ager Scott in his office to arrange the g terms of arbitration. I confidently expect, during Sunday, to be able to run all trains which we are authorized to run on Sunday, and to resume full transportation service as soon * v as possible after midnight on Sunday, when the Sunday law ceases to be operative.
