From there she will visit 1 Laurens and other points before re* turning home. ?Dr. H. N. Snyder, president or Wofford College, Spartanburg, spent last Friday night and Saturday in the city. Dr. Snyder has many warm friends in Bamberg, who were delighted to see him again. He was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Brabham while here. Dr. Snyder was on his way to Charleston, where he spent ? Sunday. ?Mr. - G. Marshall Moore, of Greenville, recently editor of the Piedmont, an evening newspaper of that city, but who has now leased the paper to J. R. McGbee, spent last Friday in the city. If President Roosevelt will conjent to head a "Wild West show," le can draw a salary of $10,000 a veek for 30 consecutive weeks, according to an offer just made to him jy James M. Atlas, proprietor of,the Hotel Atlas, of this city. Two Negroes Killed. Winnsboro, Feb. 7.?Sheriff Hood received a telephone message this morning informing him of a double killing near Buckhead, in the northwestern portion of the county, at a gambling den last night. A negro, George Carr, shot and killed two other negroes, Bill Sawyer and Nick Williams. Three others were wounded. He was here for the purpose of looking over the specifications for our water works and making a bid on the work. Negroes Attack Sheriff. Houston, Miss., Feb. 8.?A mob of negroes attacked Sheriff I. M. Hoff at Humble to-day and he narrowly escaped death. He was knocked down and fired at fifteen times. Hoff escaped by cutting his way through the mob with a knife. A serious riot is feared. A large posse is forming to make wholesale arrests.
