Editor the Bamberg Herald?Dear sir I am aware of the fact that you are no running a religions paper, but I wonl< like to reach the public through you columns on a subject I fear few havi thought of, yet it is well we should sto] and reason together. There was a great crime committed ii our community last Sunday night, ant no one came to the rescue pf the part] the crime was commuiea upon, dui man] of our citizens sat and looked upon ant rejoiced in the crime, even contributed to carry on the crime. The saddest o all is our churches, pastors and people ol their respective congregations joined ii with the violators of this great crime The Crime was committed against God our gracious Heavenly Father. Th< crime was the violation of the com mandment, "Remember the Sabbath daj to keep it holy," etc. Our city father! unthoughtedly committed this crime last Sunday night by employing men to rut the power house to furnish lights ovej our city, and church and people joinec in unthoughtedly with them to help defrav the expenses. Now, Mr. Editor, I am not opposed tc improvements but I believe we should do all things to the honor and glory of God We should give Him thanks for our prosperity and honor Him by keeping Hif comm andments. Our city fath er should not allow the power house to be run latei than 11:30 o'clock Saturday nights and not allow them to start again before 1.3C Monday mornings. Do this in honor to God. According to the Holy Scriptures it is no worse to have our stores opened on Sunday night and pastor and people patronize them than it is to run the powei house and pastor and people patronize it. You will please read James 2:10-11, and you will find these words. "For whosoever shall keep the whole law and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For He that said do not commit adultery, said also do not kill. Now if tbou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill thou art hecnme a transgressor of the law." Now, Mr. Sditor^ according to the Scriptures sin is the trangression of the law. Therefore we as citizens of Bamberg have sinned and mast repent or be lost, as no sin can enter Heaven. Killing Near Ehrhardt. Tuesday morning of this week a negro named Walter Martin was killed on Mr; W. I. Carter's plantation near Ehrhardt by Mr. Philip Padgett. It seems that Mr. Padgett, who works for C. Ehrhardt & Sons, went to see the negro about a debt he owed the firm, or possibly to foreclose some papers, and a difficulty arose and the negro was shot. Details of the affair are very meagre. The inquest is being held today (Wednesday) Mr. Padgett has employed John R. Bellinger, Esq., to represent him. MADE HAPPY FOR LIFE. Great happiness came into the home of S. C. Blair, school superintendent, at St. Albans, W. Va., when his little daughter was restored from the dreadful complaint he names. He says: uMy little daughter had St. Vitus dance, which yielded to no treatment but grew worse until we tried Electric Bitters; and I rejoice to say three bottles effected a complete cure." Quick, sure cure for nervous complaints, general debility, female weaknesses, impoverished blood and malaria. Guaranteed by J. B. Black, Hoover's Drug Store.
