The show at the opera house this (Thursday) evening will be a good one. Don't fail to see it. You will be tickled immensely at Humpty Dumpty and the famous clown band. There will be special music at the Methodist church next Sunday morning, this being the first service in the new church. Rev. M. W. Hook, of Laurens, formerly pastor of the church, under whose administration the work of erecting a new house of worship was commenced, has been invited to preach in the new building at the first service, but it has not yet been ascertained whether he will be able to come or not. An Interesting Incident. From the Charlotte Observer we take the following, which occurred during President Roosevelt's recent visit to that city: "As the President turned to take his seat after speaking, Miriam Matheny, a great granddaughter of the late Squire Benjamin P. Boyd, of this city, and the daughter of Mr. Pinckney Matheny, of Bamberg,.8. C., presented him with a tremendous bouquet of roses. The President bowed, scented the flowers, picked up the little child, who was but five years old up in his arms, held her to his shoulders, presented her to the multitude and said: 'Here is the best product, the finest crop.'" G. Frank Bamberg handles the best buggies and wagons, yet the prices are reasonable. A Delightful Entertainment. The entertainment given by the ladies of the Methodist church at the home of Mrs. J. D. Copeland, last Friday evening, was a decided success in every way. Mrs. Copeland's beautiful parlor and hall were most tastily decorated in ferns and other pot plants, making them a scene of loveliness. The program was opened with a piano duet delightfully rendered by Misses Florrie Black and Marie Stokes. Following this, a very charming song, "Dainty Dorothea," by Mrs. W. C. Koger. "When Knighthood was in Flower" was most enthusiastically received as a violin solo, by Dr. 0. D. Faust. Miss Pearl Delk recited "The Gambler's Wife" in a very touching, tender manner. "Love's Sorrows," a baritone solo, was splendidly rendered by Mr. W. C. Koger. One of the most pleasing numbers on the program was a male trio, "I Long for Thee," by Messrs. C. W. Rentz, W. C. Koger and W. D. Roberts. These gentlemen sung without piano accompaniment, and thei voices blended in delightful harmony. The last number was another beautiful song, "A Gypsy Love Song," by Mrs. W. C. Koger, whose sweet voice always ! charms the hearers. Ices and cake were then served to the guests, and the nice little sum of $15.00 was realized. These little impromptn musical programs are very delightful, and those who are not present miss a very pleasant evening. Killed While Hunting. Anderson, October 24.?William Redmond, a 17-year-old boy living at the Riverside cotton mill was accidentally shot Saturday afternoon while hunting and died a few hours afterwards from his injuries. He had killed a bird and in efforts to secure the game his gun was accidentally discharged, the load entering the top of his head. No inquest was held after an investigation showed beyond doubt how the young man came to his death. Ehrhardt Banking Company.
