Green, purchaser of the notes, finally lost the cases. This is not correct. The cases are now to go before a jury of Orangeburg county, to be tried on their merits. Kerr has been elected mayor of Greenwood, defeating Kenneth Baker by only five votes. Petitions are being circulated in Union county asking that an election be ordered on the question of voting the dispensary out of that county. An eight-year-old boy seriously and probably fatally wounded his brother while playing with an "unloaded gun" r near Batesburc last Saturdav. 0 J The second contest for solicitor in the ninth judicial circuit will be between W. T. Logan and W. St. Julien Jervey, both of Charleston. Mr. J. G. Padgett, of Col. leton, was defeated in the first primary. Mr. J. R. Mack, president of the Orangeburg collegiate institute, died at the home of his daughter at North last Thursday, where he had gone on a short visit, ite was 52 vear9 old. The burial took place at Bull Swamp Baptist church.. Julius Felder, a young man about 24 years old, who is in the employ of the branch of the Atlantic Coast Line running from Creston to Pregnals, met with a very serious accident last Saturday morning at the Creston junction. Mr. Felder was preparing to couple approaching cars when his foot got fastened in the switch frog and he was unable to move it the cars taking his leg off just above the ankle and dragging him some distance. Crum, president of the Bamberg county cotton growers' association, to organize Bamberg precinct into a subdivision or precinct club. A meeting for this purpose will be held in the court house Thursday afternoon, April 6th, at 3:30 o'clock. Every merchant, lawyer, doctor, farmer, or business man in sympathy with the movement, is earnestly requested to attend and give it his hearty support and influence. We have been holding meetings without knowing exactly how to proceed, but since hearing Mr. Hyatt explain the matter, the county is to be organized in a business-like way.
