London, Feb. 6.?An official return is mblished of the quantity of alcoholic averages consumed by various nations n the year 1908. The Bavarians were the greatest drinkers, averaging 51 gallons a rear each, but of the nations Belgium ?me first with an average consumption )f 47.7 gallons. I The United Kingdom averaged 29.7 galons, and America was sixth on the list vith an average consumption of 15 galons. T~ A /\f wino in regaru iu me wusuiupuuu ui ? France leads with 30.2 gallons. America s last on the list with 0.4. In spirits Denmark leads with three gallons. The [Jnited Kingdom consumes .99 gallons >er head. The consumption in the United Hates is not given, but it is stated to have >een greater than in the United Kingdom. In regard to the revenue derived from ilcoholic beverages, the United Kingdom las the highest proportion, 32 per cent. The United States comes next with 29 per ;ent. Several other countries have 19 and [8 per cent, and the average is 8? per sent. He Lost His Dignity.
