The lot advertised by the sheriff for taxes was not sold, as the owner paid * up before the hour of sale. The board of registration was in session at the court t house, and a number of certificates were c issued. A prominent gentleman has made complaint to The Herald of the practice of E placing sheets for cotton pickers in or c near the public roads. These piles of cot- f ton frighten horses, and putting sheets a near the road is a bad practice. Executive Committee Meeting. The county Democratic executive committee met in the court house here last Thursday morning, to convass the vote and declare the result of the recent primary. The vote for congress, solicitor, and county officers was exactly as published in our election table last week, and these figures can be preserved as the official result. Those nominated were declared the nominees of the party, and second races were ordered for Sheriff and Probate Judge, as well as magistrate at Denmark. There were no protests or contests before the committee, and everything was in perfect shape. The official vote of the county for State officers was 1,219. For railroad commissioner the total vote stood: Cansler, 63, Earle 60, Evans 24, Garris 885; Gignilliat L, Mobley 183. Dispensary Sales for August. The county board of control met here ast Monday to receive the regular monthy reports of county dispensers. Last Saturday the Bamberg Guards, Co. >, 2n<f S. C. Y. I., left here for the en jampment at Manassas, the place being low known as Thoroughfare, Va.
