For a hundred years or more Witch > Hazel has been recognized as a superior remedy, but it remained for E. C. DeWitt & Co., of Chicago, to discover how to combine the virtues of witch hazel with other antiseptics, in the form of a salve. * DeWitt's Witch Hazel Salve is the best salve in the world for sores, cuts, burns, bruises and piles. The high standard of this salve has given rise to counterfeits, and the public is advised to look for the name "DeWitt" on the package, and accept no other. Sold by Dr. H. F. Hoover. : . In the New York law school at a recent lecture on the making of wills the case of a woman in one of Rider Haggard's books was cited. This woman had a man's will inscribed in ink on her back. And the will was held regular and legal because it had been made in writing. After giving this practical illustration the professor called on John Smith, saying: "Is a will so inscribed regular and legal in your opinion ?" "No,n answered Smith, "Why not?" asked the professor. j "Because it's a skin game," replied Smith. The professor felt angry enough to order Smith out of the room, but the class laughed so much that he decided to overlook the student's flippancy.' TRIUMPHS OF MODERN SURGERY. Wonderful things are done for the human body by surgery. Organs are taken out and scraped and put back, or may be removed entirely; bones are spliced; pipes take the place of diseased sections of veins; antiseptic dressings are applied to wounds, bruises, burns and like injuries before inflammation sets in, which causes them to heal without maturation and in one-third the time required by the old treatment. Chamberlain's Pain Balm acts on this same principle. It is an antiseptic and when applied to such injuries, causes them to heal quickly. It allays the pain and soreness. Keep'a bottle of Pain Balm in your home and it will save time and money, not to mention the inconvenience and suffering such injuries entail. For sale by Bamberg Pharmacy; H. C. Rice. Far-Reaching Affection. Hal and Donald, little lads of five and j seven years, would sometimes manifest their affection for their parents by engaging in a dialogue of this kind: "I love papa and mamma clear to New York." ''Well, I love them clear to Chicago." "I love them from here to Omaha." Thus they would go by gigantic strides until they reached San Francisco, when one. of them would cross the Pacific at a single bound and say triumphantly? "Well, I love papa and mamma clearto Japan." This would "stump" the other boy, because both lads seemed to think that Japan was the end of all space. One evening when the older boy had defeated his brother by saying that he loved his parents "clear to Japan," the younger boy put on his thinking-cap, and presently he a rinir nf trinmnh in V?ic auuvuutuu rv iwu c* iiug va haauujiu uik^ voice: "Well, I just don't care if you do love papa and mamma clear to Japan.
