The officers of the association have sent invitations to the supervisors and commissioners of each county in the State, and it is expected that the attendance will be the largest since the organization was effected. Moye's. fJohn Thomas, white;, a well-known v) character around town, died suddenly last Sunday night of congestion of the II'p ' brain. He had been sick a little more than a week ago, but had been up and & out on the streets a day or two before he died. He was a great fisherman, and fol-1 lowed that vocation a good deal of his time. He was buried Monday afternoon over in the Fork of Orangeburg county. The telephone situation in Bamberg is y getting rather interesting just now. The Bell people own the only exchange here, & and rates have been recently raised from ff 1.50 to $2.50^ per m?>nth for business 1 houses. The raise in residence rates is from $1.00 to $2.00 per month. Several people have had their 'phones taken out, and there is already tall^ of organizing another company unless the Bell people operate the old rates. The total amount of uupaid taxes therefore is ] $14,556.67, divided as follows: State, $4,388: county, $3,949.66; three mill school, $2,633.10; special school, $1,870.38: polls, $1,715. The financial report of the Methodist l church for the past year is the best ever yet presented. All assessments and claims were paid in full, while several of the . conference claims were overpaid. The total amount paid for all purposes during the year was $2,510.04, while the Sunday < school, missionary societies and Epworth ^ League all made fine reports and are in a c flourishing condition. The same board t nf ctpcrftrrls has heen re-elected, with the J following officers: F. M. Bamberg, chairman; H. J. Brabham, vice chairman; C. R. Brabham, treasurer; Jno. H. Cope, secretary. The pastor's salary has been fixed at the same amount as last year, and the assessments of the members will be sent out later. Marriage Last Sunday. Mr. J. W.
