Wednesday of this week, afternoon and evening, in that no charge was made for any of the performances. The “free show” resulted from a disagreement betweeflT'the guarantors and the Chautauqua management, the former claiming that they had been induced to sign the contract through alleged misnjpresentation and fraud and that, t hire fore, they were -not bound by its provisions. The Chau tauqua management claimed that a contract does exist and that they were fulfilling their part of it by pre senting the performances listed on the program. They hold the guarantors responsible for the contract price, and inasmuch as the guarantors take the position that there is no contract they could not accept any admission fee's, A meeting of the guarantors was held at the Court House Monday morning, at which time the represen tatives of the Chautauqua were ad vised that, while the guarantors did not consider themselves bound by any contract, they were willing to assit in any way in making the engage ment a success, >THe representatives, however, elected to stand op 'bar.ii C ANDY-- Sweet Thoughts FOR . - Mother’s Day r When it comes to description—the word" sweetness Expresses vour feeling toward Mother.
