A most laughable occurence hap pened in Charleston last week itr connection with a meeting of the Ku Klux Klan^- AjLJnitiation was held Thursday night in a field about one mile from the city and in some manner a report went out that the Klansmen would parade the streets, although no application for a permit had been made to the powers that be. His Excellency, Mayor Grace, how- ever, saw fit to station squads of armed policemen at roads leading into Charleston and thtsc “military preparations" are «aid to have caus ed much amusement among the members of the order, according to The Newt and Cotmer of Friday. Amonif the visiting guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ed..Brabham, of Olar; Mr. and Mis, Quenion Brabham, Mrs. Evelyn Price and Mrs. H. T. Jonnson and chil dren, of Bfimberg. Mrs. Bailey’s mother, Mrs. Louis Brabham, of Thomasvillc, Ga., has returned after spending iseveral days Urn Gift Bhop A4' with them. We are glad to know their little son, William Ashley, Jr., is getting well again after a feat threatening spell of sickness. We regret that the old Colonial "Hailey of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Bush was burned down last fall, but they have quartered themselves in a very pretty new bungalow. This is a home where true hospitality is always felt and visitors love to go. Mrs* D. After the meeting a social hour was enjoyed and delightful re freshmenta of sandwiches and tea were served by her charming little daughters. Sept. 14 —Thi* is a live end growing community between El- lenton and Dunbarton. These people are proud of everything in their com munity except their roads. It is a shame the way they have been over looked and neglected in this respect, even though they are in the extreme end of Barnwell county. They are sensitive to the oversight, as they are of a people and desendants from the largest land owners and tax payers and aristocracy of the county. Their farms are worth visiting, ’s Baileyville is noted for its beautiful farms and the fertility of its soil. They have a good school and chugeh in their community, known as file Daisy May Christian church and school. They have a teacher that is a credit to the school and community, Mr. Ear I Bush, who was graduated with honors from the Citadel at Charleston. Mr. Lin wood Bush motored Mn. D. C. Hush and daughters. Misses Gladys and Julia Bush, and Mrs. W. Y. Miller to Augusta Labor Day, where they spent »r very pntsrtaiii- ing day touring over the city and visiting friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. W. Y. Miller, are making preparations to visit his brother, Mr" Dick Miller,, of Green wood, in the near future. Mrs. H. R. Bailey and little son. Hugo, of Atlanta, have just returned after spending several weeks with relatives in BwiTeyvitle. Our preacher Rev. W. T.
