Harley was found not guilty of the murder of Alfred M. Hill, near Patterson’s Old Mill several month* ago, and a mistrial was ordered in the case of J. S. Wood, the other de fendant, the jury not being able to agree upon a verdict. This case consumed three days and was : hard fought throughout. The theory of the State was that Hill was waylaid by the defendants, who contended that they met Hill in the public road and that when he drew his pistol and shot J.
