Reedy Branch, Jan. 9.—A mar riage of much interest to their many friends was that of Miss Winnie Black, of this section, and Mr. Broadus Still, of the Friendship sec< tion, which occurred Thursday after noon, December 22nd, af 4 o’clock, at the home of the Rev* D. W. Heck le. Mr. Still is a prosperous young farmer and a sdn of Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Still. His bride is the charming daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W* H, Black. Their many friends wish them a long and happy life. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Morris, Master Aubrey Harley and Miss Essie Mor ris, of Barnwell, motored out to the home of M. Johnson Black, Sr., Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Grubbs are spending some time in Savannah with their son. The farmers of this section have begun preparing land for another crop. Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Black, Mr. Johnson Black, Jr., and Misses Liz zie and Birdie Black motored out to the home of Mr. W. R. Black Sunday afterpooon. Mr. Millard Grubbs and Mr. Luth er Tailor, of Montgomery, Ala., have been spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Grubbs. Mr. Boyd Grubbs has been spend ing a few days in Metter, Ga„ with relatives and friends. Miss Josephine Grubbs spent the week-end with Misses Juanita and Adell Still. Messrs David McCormick and Lawton Creech were visitors at the home of Misses Juanita and Adell Still Sunday evening. The many friends in this section of Mr and Mrs. Leroy Still will re gret to learn that they have moved near Blackville. . Mr. and Mm Victor Martin were the guests of Mr. and Mm. B. W. J. Send your Job Work to The People. K. DEATH OF HENRT G. DELE. Another Confederate Veteran Paaeee to His Reward. „ Blackville, Jan. 9.—Mr. Henry G. Delk died at his residence in the Dou ble Pond community Saturday morn ing, December 17th, 1921. The fu neral services were conducted the fol lowing day at the Double Pond Bap tist Church his pastor, the Rev Mr. Davis, in the presence of a large concourse of relatives and friends. His body was laid to rest in the fam ily plat in the churchyard. Mr. Delk was born December 29th, 1842. He joined the church at an ear ly age and was a true and loyal sol dier in the great army of the Lord. He was one of the oldest deacons of the Double Pond Baptist Church, hav ing served for more than 40 years. He loved his church and community, and was ever found ready and willing to do all he could for the advancemen | of the Kingdom of God and the salva tion of man. Mr. Delk served his country in the 1866, being flag-bearer ia Co. B, 2ndk South Carolina Regiment, Heavy AV J i tillgry. On January 17, 1£07, he married Miss Jane Carolina Hutto. To this happy union seven children were born, the following, besides his ddfe, 1 surviving him: Mrs. J. L. Croft, Mrs. J. P. Chitty, Mrs. Isadore Hartzog, Messrs. Jacob and Charlie Delk, of the Double Pond communi ty, and Mrs. W. A. The decorations in the hall and living room were in keeping with the sea son. Progressive work was played Miss Mary Neeley making the highest score.
