Prothro, Jr., the ten months old son of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Prothro took poison by mirtake. The child was at play at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. „^g. Stroman, and when found by his nugse had a tablet of poison in his mouth Doctors rendered what medi cal attention they could and immedi ately rushed him to the hospital. The family entertain hope of the little fellow’s, recovery, but it will prob ably he a prolonged period of suffer ing. The family has a large circle of friends and relatives a ho extend their sympathy during this anxiety. University of South Carolina Scholarship and Entrance Examinations The examination for the award of vacant scholarships in the Uni versity of South Carolina and for admission of new students will be held at the County Courthouse, July 8, 1921, .at 9 a. m. 3 Applicants must not be less thap sixteen years of age. When scholarships are vacant after July 8, they will be awarded to those making the highest average at examination, provided they meet the conditions governing the award.
