Work will commence within a few days on the construction of a build ing 250 by 400 feet, which will pro vide 100,000 feet of floor space, a- boujt 70,000 of which will be used for displaying Carolina-made products. The building will be thoroughly eqipped for comfort and ^ convenience, being provided with rest roome, smoking rooms, band stands, etc. It will be the largest building of its kind on one floor in the south. The exposition will be held most likely the first two weeks in Sep tember, exact date, along with com plete list of officers to be .named within the next few days. It is predicted by those familiar with the plans that fully 100,000 paople will attend thin exposition and special efforts are to be made to bring school teachers from all over the Carolinas to study the wonderful variety of exhibits on display., It will be an eye-opener to every one, for the 2,000 manufacturers of the Carolinas are manufacturing today practically every article made in I America. There will bo on hand machinery making cigarettes, plug tobacco, ci gars, cold drinks,hosiery,cloth,candies and medicines, shoes and wood pro ducts, and it is expected that at this show will be represented the finished products made from wood, cotton, peanuts, cotton seed, minerals, chemi cals, leather and all of #ur raw materials. The furniture mauufactur. era, the monument people, the makers, the candy mid confection manufacturers, the clotli and hosiery people, the hat makers, the overall people, the stocking and dress goods makers, the yam and cloth people, the silk ralHi, the power developers the fertilizer manufacturers, the chemists—in fact all of the manu factured lines of the two states, in cluding everything from automolules^ and farm implements, and on down to toothpicks will be on display. Each year millions upon millions of dollars are sent out of the Caro linas for goods that are being made at home in equal quality and the main purpose of this, the first Made- In-Caroiina exhibit ever held, is to familiarize the people of the two Carolinas with the wonderful va riety and matchless quality of home riety goods, so that more liberal backing may be given the home pro ducts. , # , . . . ■ * . ■*. * University of South Carolina Scholarship and Entrance Examinations The examination for the award of vacant scholarships in the Uni versity of South Carolina and for admission of new students will be held at the County Courthouse, July 8, 1 921, at 9 a. m. Applicants must not be less than sixteen years of age. When scholarships are vacant after July 8, they will be awarded to those making the highest average at examination, provided they meet the conditions governing the award. pplicants for scholarships should write to President Currell for schol arship application blanks. These blanks properly filled out by the ap plicant should be fildd with Dr. Currell by Juy 5. Scholarships are worth $100, free tuition and fees, total $158. Next session will open Sept. 14, 1921.
