Earl and held for South -Carolina authorities for death sentence for assaulting four girls, at the Odd FeHows’Orphanage at Green ville, slashed his throat with a razor i 0 in hfe cell in “Murderers’* Row” in the county. Jail here tonight. He died almost instarrtly, having almost sev- * r— 4 . . ^ - ^ ered his bead from his body with the stroke. It was his fourth major at tempt at suicide and he had once tried to open a previous woumt' "in his throat. Vaughn had been kept in a straight jacket in the hospital ward after his attempts to kill himself fhe night of his arrest, but today he was moved to “Murderers’ Rojw” and placed in a cell with three men charged with murder. Sheriff Spencer states hy has no knowledge who authorized the re moval of the straight jacket or of the man from the hospital ward. Morris, died at her home near Olar on April 1st, aged 63 years. She had apparently recovered from an ill- nqss of two or three weeks, when she suffered a sudden attack of heart fail ure and passed away in about an hour. Her body was laid to rest in the ct me- tery at Friendship Cnurch, of which she had long been a member, the Rev. D. W. Heckle conducting the funeral services in the presence of a large goncourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. Besides lier husband, Mrs. Morris is survived by one.sister, eight children, "26 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who have the deep sympathy of scores of friends in their..
