CHAIN GANG IMPROVES Almshouse Unchanged Since 1918 In spection.—Abolition of Waste ful System Recommended. Assistant Secretary Broyles, of the State Board of Charities and Correc tions, visited the Barnwell C ounty Jail, Chain Gang and Alnish6ll££ on May 13th, at which time he found the local jail considerably above the average in the State, for which condition Jailer G. M. Main was highly com mended; the condition of the chain gang showed a decided improvement over last year, but according to the report of Mr. Broyles there has been no change pt the almshouse, or Poor Yard, since the 1918 inspection. Before her marriage to Bellinger, Mrs. Bellinger M' K ins Dunbar, of Barr.wi Shr spent the greater portion long and useful life in BarnweB, where her husband practiced medicine for years. For the last few years aha has made her home in Columbia. Both in Barnwell -and in Columbia she .ends wh? will mourn her passing. She was^ a voted member of the Baptist Church. , The late Mrs. Bellinger is survived hy two daughters, Mrs. William Hatcher Jones and Mrs. John S. Rey nolds, both of Columbia; one son, Ed mond W. Bellinger, of Spartanburg, and two brothers, Frank F. Dunbar of Barnwell County and William M. Dun- liar of Washington, D.. C. Besides these members of her immediate fam ily, the iate Mrs. Bellinger leaves many other relatives. The funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3 o’clock at the late residence, 1809 Green Street. The sen ices will be conducted by the Rev. John K. Goode, pastor of the Shandon Baptist Church. The interment will take place tomorrow afternoon at 6:30 o’clock at the Baptist cemetery in Barnwell.—The State, June 16. Mrs. Bellinger’s body w*as laid to rest Monday afternoon in the Bap tist Churchyard beside that of her hue- band, the late Dr. Bellinger/ So pro fuse were the floral offerings that both graves were covered.
