Pollock, of Cheraw, former United States Senator, spent the night in Columbia, having come to the state cairital to deliver an address at the commencement exercises of Chicoka College. Mr. Pollock is keenly inter ested in various questions now press ing for solution, particularly that of woman suffrage and that of a possi ble drive on the part of the negro for political recognition. Should Mr. Pollock be a member of the next state Democratic convention he will ask the party to grant the white women of the State the right to participate in the primaries. Captain Pejmell made the where federal aid is being met for per manent highways, and instructed the department of agriculture where to have the trucks shipped at ouce. The trucks should be delivered immediate 1 ly. The highway department has re ceived assurance that 296 trucks to help in highway construction in this State are to be made available as soon as possible. Nine counties do .not receive any of the present ship ment of trucks, as some of these coun ties have made no provision to meet federal aid. Several others are not yet ready for the trucks.
