Trotti Ordered to Report ti Alexandria, La. / ^ r The Annual Short Course for the Barnwell County Canning and Poul try Club Members, and for the Mem bers of the Women’s Home Demon stration Clubs will be held at the Court House in Barnwell, June 19th, 20th and 21si.^ All members of the ahpve named clubs are invited and urged to be pres- / ent. ' The girls are to remain at the Coun ty seat for the entire time, for the people of the town have very gener- erously opened their homes to these girls and will be hostesses for the oc- p casion. Barnwell County has been called on to furnish 184 men this < month—24 whites and 110 negroes. The negroes will be sent to Camp Jackson on the 21st inst. and the white men to the same camp about the 24th. On Friday, June 7th, a meeting of the County Council of Dofena# wan held at the Court House in BarawdL The main purpose of this meeting wan to make plans for carrying out the campaign for the sale of War Savings Stamps. The township chairmen of the Coun cil of Defense, the ministers living in the county, the food and foal admin istrators for the county and a man and woman chairman from each of the tt school districts were invited to the meeting. Rev. Mr. Murchison, Feld Agent far the State Council of Defense, and Mr. P. M. Rea, Vice Director of the War Savings Committee, were the far the day. Both of these helpful addresses. Farrell it progressing nicely, and it is expected that the plant will be in operation by the middle of July. The tenant houses being erected by Mr. Farrell are about, finished and are quite an addition to Blackville. The surgical class of 21 Red Cross Members is progressing nicely under the training of Mrs. Wilson of Allen dale. The many friends of Mrs. Henry Martin regret to know of her illness and wish for her an early recovery. Mrs. John Turner returned home to day after a few days visit to relatives in Matthew, Ga.
