Andrew Bonar; Law, government spokesman in the House of Com mons, announced Tuesday that the government proposed to ask judges to act as a court of honor to Investi gate the charges made by Gen. Fred erick B. Maurice, who was recently removed from the post of director of military operations at the British war office. Mr Bonar Law said the army council was dealing with questions of difcipllne growing out of a let ter written by Gen Maurice. The letter of Gen. Maurice was written to the morning pgpers in which it appeared. Mr. Bonar I^aw’s statement gave rise to a lively series of questions, in reply to which the chancellor said that at most of the secret documents would have to be gone into, it would be unsuitable to appoint a select committee from the House of Com mons, but he added, a day would be given for discussion after the judges had reported. He thought that every one involv ed would be glad to place his infor mation at the disposal of the judges, and if the judges were not given everything they wanted they would certainly let the government know. Admiral Sir Hedworth Meux de clared that the answers given by Mr. Bonar Law would be received with the greatest dissatisfaction in the .army and navy. “They are sick to death,** he said, “with the way things are going on In the House of Commons.” Replying to further questions by Sir Edward Carson, Mr. Bonar Law •aid the judges would decide wheth er the meriiberft of the cabinet and former members of the cabinet should be called as witnesses and al lowed to state whatd$ad transpired In the cafblnet.
