UNDID PROGRAM FOR SHORT COURSE BARNWELL WILL ENTERTAIN CLUB MEMBERS. Plans Have Been Perfected for Three Days* Meeting in Barnwell June 20. 21. 22. \ , June 20, 21 and 22 will be day^ of much interest and prefit to the girls in the Barnwell County Club ,Work. On these days all the girls who are members of the canning and poultry * -clubs are expected to be in Barnwell. The members of the clubs are expeted to arrive in Barnwell at 9:30 o’clock Wednesday morning, June 20th, and will go immediately to the school house ih order that they may be ready for the opening exercises at 10:00 o’clock. In keeping with Barnwell’s reputa tion for generosity, the visiting girls will be entertained by the ladies of the town during the Short Course, meals and lodging being furnished free of charge. The owners of automobiles are re quested to bring their cars to the school house at S o'clock on the af ternoon of June 22 and give the young t a ride. This outing will be \f appreciated by the girls and sent people will no doubt enjoy r them the ptononre. Mias Clif ford Barrett, the Home Dimenotm taen Agent, is depending upon the help of the people of Bam U. D. C. CHAPTER MEETS. Interesting Session Held in Blackville < Tuesday of Last Week. Blackville, June 9.—On Tuesday af ternoon the Davis-Lee chapter, U. D. C., met at the home of Mrs. Isadore| Brown, with Mrs. Brown, Mrs. J. W. Browning and Mrs. W. E. Matthews as hostesses. After the business of the meeting was disposed of Miss Rosa Rich read current events and Miss Evelyn Leonard read a paper enti tled “The Heroism of Southern Wo-, men.’’ Delightful punch, ice cream and cake were served. Misses Rosa and Bertha Rich enter tained the Priscilla club. After doing a little needle work the club enjoyd a contest. Mrs. Harry Rich sang sev eral solos which were very much en joyed. Punch, ice cream and cake were served. Mrs. Bowman Still in vited the club to meet with her the following week. Mrs. Thomas L. Wragg was hostess to the Wednesday Afternoon Book chib. As the secretary called the roll each member, also visitors, answered | with a musical quotation. After the business meeting the afternoon was turned over to the hostess Music was the main feature of the afternoon. Mrs. W. O.
