Humoristn hm* folks who have an idea that everything they say i* funny enough to make any ordinary man ruin a side, a vest and a perfectly pood collar lauphinp at his alleged jokes. Many of them tour the coun try and make speeches; and they usu ally walk away withihe coin for folks* love to be amused and are willing to lay out their hard-earned money to hear them crack their chestnuts. A humorist who is not a humorist but thinks he is a humorists is worse than' the man who reads the evening paper over your shoulder on the street car going home. The shoe clerk who mild* ly suggested to a lady customer that “six into four you can’t” was a real humorist if there ever was such an animal. Dentist are often humorists only they can appreciate the joke. Many dentists illustrate their talks by drawing from life—pulling teeth, you know. The man who advertised for a competent person to undertake the sale of new medicine, hastening to state that it would Ik* profitable for the undertaker was an unconscious humorist. Despite the high price of eggs, humorists who don’t exactly come up to the standard are still re ceiving their share in the hen-fruit tho not always in a very complimen tary manner. They do not eat ordi nary lumber but sometime* dine on shipboard The humorist who goes about advocating such nta!e ones aa ■'To remove paint, sit on it" does not always find a rordud reception.
