THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 9. 1Mb. WMtlMr PoTMMt issued by the U. S. Weather Bureau, Washington, D. C., for the week be ginning Sept. 7: The week will be one of generally fair weather and normal temperatures, Let the People Rule. The daily papers recently carried a dispatch sent out from Columbia to the effect that C. L. Blease, Esq.,* has definitely decided to enter the race for Oovernor next summer against Mr. Manning. While it is a time honored custom in South Carolina to give Governor two terms in office, provided he has merited the confidence of the people, Mr. Blease, of course, is clearly within his rights in offering himself as a candidate. In the past Mr. Blease has made his campaigns as the champion of the people, but we will probably see him in a new role when next he makes his appearance on the stump. A few weeks ago one John Henry Chappell, of Newberry, asked the Su preme Court of the State to issue an injunction against holding the prohibition election on the 14th insf, under an act passed at the last session of the Legislature. One of the attorneys for the petitioner was Mr. Bleaae. He is again dearly within his righfe, bat dees H sot seem strange that the ooe-thne champion of the the great let-the people rule should be arrayed against the people he has professed to love? Says the Abbeville Press and Banner: the great champion, the only of the rights of the has dapertsd the to the courts for staaap orator who the state seme years ago i court, and carry ing his fight to the people, has he he- eoase afraid of the people and resorted to the eourt he • bused v He has. But the court found be had as tttrte law as he had lave for the rights of the people, he and the counsel for the his associate, and i of the trade, their their frieoda, must THE PEOPLE will talk on election day. and their cham- ptoa of the peat will take orders, not Liquor will be enjoined FULLER JOHNSON ♦ . This is a step in the right direc tion and one that should be followed by every bank in the South. The fanning and banking interests of this section are interdeoendent and whatever tends to help one is almost sure to help the other. . 4. - Bp Seven Questions To the Editor: May I ask seven questions rfr the consideration of the voters of your county? Why are paid speakers of the AntL saloon League from Indiana and Ohio imported into this State for the pur pose of trying to dictate their ideas of the best form of government for South Carolina and South Carolinians? Why are Ex-Governors and reputed leaders of Indiana and Ohio attempting to thrust upon our State a system of government which they htve never been able to pass id their own com- ■Mhwealths? " ^ 'Why have not these alleged leaders of public opinion in Indiana and Ohio first cleaned up their own states and placed ‘Their own houses in order?" , Why are these paid apeakers plead ing for State-wide prohibition in South CurcHna, while their own State enjoy tha Democratic privilege of Local Op tion? Why do not these paid outsiders ‘ pnctice in their own States what they am now nreaebing as the only safe poticy tor South Carolina to adopt? & CU Indiana or Ohio speakers ever during the moat ir to connect with city city water; with sei f p<* connection wil tank in reer of the court bouM Supplying material and doing •ary work to reguttcr entire court bouM; oyer flow pipes to bo at rear of the building only; terra cotta piping from over flow pipes to foot of bill.
