The speclil attention of the teachers,
trustees and patron* of the public
school* of Rsrnwell conn r>J« called to
the law as published by the State Hoard
of fidheation fh regard to the introduc
tion of the new text book* hi the public
schools of the county. The said law
went into operation on the first day of
•luly, 1901. Neither the trustees nor
thappunty Superintendents of Educa
tion are allowed to approve the pay
checks of any teacher in th« public
schools unless the prescribed text
book* have been introduced.
The old text book*, if not too bsdly
abused, can be exebenged for the new
series at a reduced price at any store
selling the new prescribed books. This
egchauge-is limited to November lath.

On Saturday morning Mr. Lawrence
Mrrlck died suddenly at his home near
Mt. Arnou Church, aged about 78
years. During the war he served first
in the Third Cavalry and afterward In
Johuson’a Artillery, and his surviving
comrades bear unanimous testimony to
his goodness as a man and hi* faithful-
ne««and gallantry at a soldier He
was an excellent fanner, a good citizen
aud a consistent member of the Baptist
Church. His b-.dy was laid to real
in the oemerery at Mi Arnon. Rev. A.
Bu 1st preached the funeral sermon.
