Sawyer of Aiken and the officers of Court were promptly fn their places, with exception of Capt. Wash Halford, Crier, who was too un well-jto officiate. Mr D. C. Burckhal ter acted in his stead. Seventeen Grand Jurors answered to the roll call Judge Klug^i’s charge was‘brief. In view of the fai?t that the Grand Jury had been fully instructed at the provtons terms tie clearly and concisely defined the duties and respon sibilities resting upon the Grand Jury, and guided by bis intelligent Instruc tion and their own good judgments the Jurors set diligently to work., _ The hours were fixed at from half past r l ie o’clock until half past one for the morning session, and from three Q’clock until the usual hour of adjournment for the afternoon session-. At the morning session the following cases were disposed of: A True Bill was found against. Clif ton Green and fiddle Green far A'saauM and battery with intent to kill. This case was settled upon payment of costs by the defendants. True Bill Was returned against Sam Washington, Assault and battery with tfl-ont to ItW. — ^— A True Bill was found against Hen ry Martin, House Breaking and Lar ceny. He pleaded guilty to the second count and was sentenced to 18 months at hard labor on the public works of the county or the Penitentiary. , At the noon recess a Bar meeting was held and it was unanimously agreed to try no civil oases requiring juries at this term. Pons—Bigamv Geo. K. Platts—Assault and battery with intent to kill and carrying con cealed weapons. He was tried and ac- quitted. J. Put on trial, found guilty of Assault and Battery and carrying concealed weapons and sentenced to pay a fine of twenty-five ilollars or three months at bard labor on the public works of the county. Ham Washington pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault and battery and carrying concealed weapon*, and was sentenced to pay a fine of fifty dollars or serve six months at hard labor on the public works of the .county or In the Penitentiary. IIamp Ashley was tried for Murder, J. K. ^Ajlen fur defence. Solicitor for the state, aud found Guilty of Man slaughter. True Hill for Murder was found agsinst Ben Fields. In the case of J.T. Pender charged with obtaining signatures by false pre tences. examination of witnesses was completed at the hour of adjournment and argument postponed until Wed nesday morning, R C. Holman K*q and Major L. T. Izlar'for the defence, I. L. Tobin Esq. assisting the Solicitor. Verdict, Not Utility. The case against Charles F. Pons— Bigamy, next on docket for trial. The Grand Jury was preparing the presentment when we closed our forms at noon vesterdav. Saul Bennett is rapidly recovering from the wounds received at Fairfax w hile re-dsiiug arrest, and will be well enough towards the close of the week to stand trial with bis associates Tyler and Davis. The bride sud groom pisd* a handsome appearance, the bridp was beautifully dressed in white organdie trimmed with satin and ribbon, using some rare flowers and ornaments that had been used st different times by members of tier family on such occasions.* for more than thirty years. There ^sre present many relative* and friends to witness the ceremony. After the usual con gratulation* the bridal party with the pastor am a few’frlends repaired to the dining room, where they, found an elegant supper, frhtoh wa« enjoyed by all present. After supper they return ed to the psrlor and enjoyed sweet mu sic and Other pleasures until a late hour, when the bridal party, accom panied by many friends, returned to the dining room and cut the bride's cake, which waa. as usually, very much enjoyed by those present—Miss Helen Hogarth got the ring. The presents were numerous, useful and some ex pensive, and presented a beautiful ap pearance ou exhibition. The hour ar rived for friends to depart to their homes, which many regretted, as it closed one of the most pleasant inci dents in the history of the live* of the young people present.
