Ha was In the second battle of Manassas, Fred- rtekshurg, the Wilderness and tiurner- ou* other tight* around Richmond, a* well as many minor engagements around Chattanooga aud Knoxville. ^ Hu was slightly wounded aevural times and seriously at the Wilderness, where hi* gallantry In action, won-hi* promotion from the ranks, lie returned home, after Lee’s sur render, and set about making a living for himself. He began by clerking for Messrs 8-1*. Maner A Co., to whom he gave perfect satisfaction and of whom he made iaatlng friend*. In May, 188!), he married the only daughter of Wil liam W. Bryan, by whom he had ten children. After his happy marriapn betook charge of the plantation, which he successfully conducted in person, until the health of Ills fsoiily and bet ter facilities for schools and churches ciused him to move to Allendale,where he hits since resided, but still interest ed In the farm. From his breeding and inclination Capt. Brabham could not he anything but an ardent Democrat, always Bfiffdfqt nf the people’* interest and doing his full share in promoting it.
