Charleston came near having serious trouble on the 25th ult. A negro told MUte constable J. C. Elliott that a blind tiger was In Henry Nolte'* grocery store. Elliott went to hunt it. Nolte was away at the time. Mrs. Nolte, who was alone, said that Elliott slapped her face. Her complaint spread like wild tire ahd stirred to fever neat the temper ©f the people. At night live hundred men gathered and went on the hunt for Klllou and possibly other State oonata- Mee. Policemen were stationed before the hoarding house* of the constables and kept the hunters out. One white man was accidentally - lightly wounded hi the neck by a stray shot. Nobody else was hurt. A correspondent writes the St. ■fSfuT* Republic: I send yon what t* known to be an infallible lemedy for hydrophobia. It ha« been used In and about Thna^vl- phia for 50 years, and has been highly recommended by many prominent people of that place An eminent phy sician (now deceased) said that he had known of Its use for Ik) year* and never knew a case (hat failed wheie It wa* properly used. Th* remedy is as follow* : To one and a half ounces of good round ele campane mot bruised th a mortar, add one liln* of new milk, boil to half pint, strain off ami, w lion cold, take at a dote In the morning, fasting. No food should be taken for from three to five hour* afterwards. 53 Repeat the dose on the third morning, allowing one morhli to intervene, and again on the 111 morning. Three dose* are all that is necessary.
