Comden Cogers Defeat Bloney Paul Fouts, who starred at sec ond base for the Camden Chiefs during the 1949 baseball season of the Palmetto League, showed that he is no slouch as a eager when he scored 21 points to lead the Camden Bulls to a 59-32 win over the Blaney semi-pros at Blaney Monday night. The game, played in the new Blaney gym, attracted a big turn out of fans. Gene Banner, who played forward position with Pouts gathered 16 points, while Wilson, the long-legged Rube, at center, gatherer 7 points. Germination Tests Reported Low On 1949 Cotton Seed South Carolina cotton growers will do well to bays germination tests made of their 1949 cotton aoed which are being saved for planting the 1950 crop, according to Harry G. Boyle ton, (Hem son ex tension cottoa improvement speci alist. He says this in especially true for tar mars in the costal counties of the state. Mr. Boylston bases this sugges tion upon reports from the office of R. H. Garrison, in charge, Seed Certification for the South Caro lina Crop Improvement Associa tion. Mr. Garrison reports that germination has been shown as very low on teats made In the office ef J. Roy Jones, state com missioner of agriculture, on sam ples of seed submitted by growers who are producing certified seed, especially from growers la the southern half of the state.
