The meeting waa held at the home of Mrs. U. N. Myers on Fair street with Mrs. Nettles Myers, president, presiding. The Christ mas ball will be glTen on Monday evening, Dec. M. In the National Guard Armory with Bill Burns and his orchestra furnisLlng the music. Tickets are 91.80 per person and may be secured from all league members. Other committees and their chairman are Decorations, Mrs. Jas. W. Stuart, and Mrs. Wm. Tates, assisted by Mrs. J. C. Wal ton and Mrs. Benton Sheorn, Jr. Tables, Mrs. John A. L Goodale at her home “Cedar Knoll” on Greene street, on last Friday after noon. Mrs. Goodald’s guests Included her neighbors In and around Kirk wood Circle who called from 4 un til 6 o’clock. A tea table In the drawing room was covered with an imported linen tea cloth and centered with a silver candelabra. Mrs. Granger Gaither and Mrs. J. E. McKain presided at the tea service and assisted in serving the delicious refreshments. Guests were greeted hy Mies Smith end her escort, Mortimer G. Muller, Jr. Mies Smith wore on advanced model dance frock of black taffeta, strapless and enkle length and having o cocktail jacket and her flowers were orchids to o corsage. She presented each of her Intimate friends who assisted to serving, f corsage of carnations. They were Betty Clarke, Aldret Boykin, Holden, Letty Emerson and Clasy Beck. . Two large tables placed to op posite ends of the Canteen were covered with Christmas green paper and garlanded with red streamers and Yuietlde greens. White cotton snow men and jolly red Santa Clauses were scattered along the streamers and at each table was * punch bowl presided over by Mrs. Mortimer O. Muller, Sr., and Mrs. Howard Speaks. A huge Christmas tree decorated with ornaments and lights graced one end of the dance floor and evergreens, cut and potted poln- settlas, mistletoe and holly were used on the mantle, at the snack bar and in each of the windows. Salted nuts, assorted homemade candies and .cheese balls were served with the punch throughout the evening and at 11 o’clock an elaborate buffet supper was served. All members were present and prizes at the two tables were won by Mrs. George Nichol son and by the hostess. A dessert coarse was served by Mrs. Little to the following guests, Mrs. T. Lee Little, Mrs. Leonard Schenk, Mrs. A. C. McKain, Mrs. George Nicholson, Mrs. F. D. Goodale; Mrs. John Laurence Team and Mrs. R. E. Stevenson. Mrs. J. E. Hoffman was hostess to toe members of her bridge club last Thursday afternoon in the private dining room at Thomas Tavern. Mrs. H. D. Adams, Mrs. Hugh Matthews and Miss Myrl Hast played for absent members. At the conclusion of the card game a delightful salad course was served. Prises were awarded lira. Jas. W. Stuart for high score, Mrs. H. D. Adame the floating, and Mrs. Nettles Myera for the lowest score. The newly organized bridge club which will meet on Friday after noons twice a month, met last week with Mrs. Joseph W. Brunson at her home on North Mill street. Two of the members being unable to attend were substituted by Mrs. Richard 6. Kirk and Mrs. Lott Rog ers. Following the card game the hostess served her guests a delici ous salad course.
