WoridOf Sports The collegiate football season comes to a close in South Caro lina on Saturday when the Uni versity of South Carolina Game cocks meet The Citadel Bulldogs. The game will be played in Charleston and will be a home coming affair for the Bulldogs. There seems to be a spirit of op- lism on The Citadel campus the Bulldogs can take the Gamecocks. We can’t quite see it, but there is one thing to be sure —the Bulldogs will oe in there fighting. Police Force Is Entertained At Johnnie’s Grill The 11 members of the Camden ce department, with Fire ief Carl Hammond, were en tertained at Johnnie’s Grill last Wednesday evening at a steak dinner. Chief Alva Rush of the police group stated that it was one of the nicest events of the kind that the police have enjoyed and paid keen appreciation for the de licious western steaks, French fries, etc., that were on the menu. Beleos carried the mail in payoff strides on many occasions during the years he has been with the Bull dogs. i» Several letters received in, re sponse to the invitations sent out revealed that there was sentiment that would open the Horse Bowl entry list only to seniors who did not take part in the Shrine Bowl game. This is in line with Doc Baker’s suggestion relative to players not taking part in the Shrine game, but who were just as good as those who did, would have an opportunity to exploit their prowess. However, this is a matter to be decided upon later by the coach es who will be named within a short time. Lt. Col. J. M. Gandy Home From Okinawa Lieut. Col. Jamee M. Gandy, having completed his tour of duty in Okinawa, has retained to the states and is now spending a leave in Camden before getting his re assignment. Colonel Gandy graduated from Hartsville High school with the class of 1941 and is a graduate of Clemson college. His duties on Okinawa were in the same field of work which he had pursued in civilian life, name ly, engineering. He was Wing Air Installations Officer and it was his responsibility to handle all maintenance work pertaining to buildings, grounds and most of the utilities. Because of typhoons, rust and corrosion and normal deterioration of property, his current tour has been a very busy one.
