FRIDAY NIGHT GAMES The Lake City Truckers slowed down the upward surge of the Camden Chiefs by winning a 6 to 0 triumph here last Friday night before a crowd of 800 fans. Jack Hargett, who has been a Camden nemesis all season, play ed the star role in the fish-day setback for the Chiefs. He had the cooperation of another Truck er pitcher, one Mr. Harden Cath ey, who was holding down the right garden spot that evening. Fireball Jack gave the Chiefs five stingy hits while Cathey weaked destruction with his war club, driving in the first three runs made by the visitors and also contributing one run to the home plate count. It was a case of history repeat ing itself for Mr. Hargett, since it was this same chap who engin eered a 6 to 0 smear Of the Chiefs City several weeks ago. Carolina. SATURDAY'S GAME Camden's stay in the fourth spot of the Palmetto League was short-lived as a 6 to 3 lacing hand ed them by the Hartsville Sonocos Saturday night, following on the heels of the 6 to 0 smear that re ceived at the hands of the Lake City team Friday night pushed them down into a tie for fifth place with Hartsville. Sztorc essayed to tame the Sonocos Saturday but ran into a big bunch of trouble in the sixth and had to call on Miller Shealy to stop the Hartsville blazer Camden had a 3 to 1 lead as the teams swung into the lower half of the sixth. Up to that time the Chiefs had gathered five hits off Gyson, the new Hartsville pitcher. Hartsville put over three runs in the sixth and added two more in the seventh. Dusty Scarborough led the Chiefs in hitting with a double and single in four trips to the swat block.
