The above described maneuver is the ap proach to a stall, and its purpose is to teach you to recognize an impending stall before it occurs, and recover promptly. It is done with and without power, and is a mild maneuver. The complete stall is entered the same way. The difference is that when you slow the plane down to the stalling speed, you allow the nose to drop almost to the horizon before be ginning recovery.
