Information contained in May
reports of county agents of the
Clemson Extension Service indi
cate an increasing interest in ef
forts to control the cotton boll
weevil on a community-wide
basis.
County agents report at least
15 communities in 12 counties are
conducting experimental demon
strations in early seasonal control
of the weevil and other cotton in
sects.
In these communities the cot
ton acreage varies from a few
huhdred acres to 2,500 to 3,000
acres in one block with, all grow
ers in the given area applying the
same insecticide at the same time.
Insofar as limited personnel will
permit. Extension Service and Ex
periment Station workers are
working with the growers to get
