Camden Defeats Charleston In Brilliant Passing Exhibition Brilliant running by Jimmy Cox and just as showy passing by Ernest Baker gave Camden a 13 to 0 victory over a fighting Charleston team at Zemp field Friday night It was a Bulldog last quarter rugged fight that brought the two touchdowns that decided the game. Neither team was able to do much durute the first three per iods although the Camden offen sive clicked to the extent of some eight first downs as against but one registered by the vuitors. It was not until the fourth per iod that the Bulldogs began to click. The Navy League of the United States sponsored the first national observance of Navy Day on the 27thof October in 1922. The game was the fifth of the season for the Bulldogs and they boast a record of four wins against one defeat On Friday, Oc tober 22, the team travels to Ches ter where they will be put to an all-out effort to stop the Cyclones. The next home game of the Bulldogs is slated for November 5 when the Brookland-Cayce team is here. That game will probably be the last night game on the 1948 schedule, Unless a game is ar ranged for November 12, which at this time, is an open date. Jimmy Cox leads the Bulldog scoring to date with five touch downs and one conversion. George Beleos has three touchdowns and Myers and Baker one each. Our Navy is a well organized and efficient machine of-many com- nent parts, all working smooth- together to protect’America and e American way of life. This is your Navy. Back when a hour glass ashore had become a way to describe a woman’s figure, the Navy clung to this old way of measuring time aboard ship. Ships actually used half hour glasses, the tradition be ing that in the early days a half hour at the wheel was enough for any helsman. The custom of ring ing bells instead of keeping ordin ary shore time resulted from the use of the half-hour glass. Every time the watch at the wheel was changed-and the half hour glass turned over the bell was rung. Only once a year 16 bells were struck. At midnight on December 31 the oldest man aboard ship rang ou^ the old year with eight bells—the New Year was ushered in with another eight bells by the youngest man aboard.
