schools here. He entered the Col
lege of Charleston, graduated from
the Unlrerslty of Puerto Rico and
also studied at Duke Unireralty.
Later he Uught, school In Puerto
Rico and then w^ employed by the
United States goremment as a
psyslrlst In an engineering corps.
He was connected with a shlpmrd
in Florida btfore his death.
Mra. Banm la now direct^. of
women’s prpgrams and muslc' at
Radio Station WCSC In Charleston.
Writing Is not new to her, al
though .llttla of her work vas In
the field of fiction. She aided Dr,
Frederick A. Bloeom translate the
final Tolnme of Marc^ Pronst's

through high school by atending
night classes while working m s

Shortly after she received her M.

a Bachelor of Library science de
gree from Columbls University.

a period in the New York Public
Library and six years in Puerto
Rico as a teacher of English, at
the anlvhrsity and instructor' in
chUdren’s literature at the Poly
technic. In Puerto Rico she also
began radio work, telling stories on
the air and participating in other
programs
