The Baron DeKalb chapter of > Future Farmers of America re- oelred netional recognition on its program of work last year. The certificate of honorable menUon was recelred this week from A. W. Tenny, executive secretary of the National FFA organization, Washington. D. C.' The national chapter contest 1« one of the many contests spon sored by the National FFA Founda tion. The chapter contest is the program of work*and activities of the local chapter entered in com petition with every other chapter in the United States. Only four chapters in South Carolina received any recognition In this contest, all these being hon orable mention. The award was on last year’s program. The chapter hyi entered its program in the con- tMt again this year. The Darlington girls team boasts one of the outstanding girl play ers of the state, Betty Searon, a forward who Is over six feet tall. . Scott, 21, was a pitcher on the Camden High School team and on the Camdbn Junior Legion team. Local fans will be pulling for him to make the grade in the North State League and be lieve that he will.
