The hride^ attired In a wedding gown of ivory ducheaa satin feat uring a hand of shirring across the curved ftpckline and down the long I cinted sleeves, fitted bodice and a full skirt that extended in to ;i long train, with a full length veil of bridal illusion, caught to a band of orange- blossoms, was given in marriage by her father. Her only ornament was a Strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom, and she carried a liouquet of lilies of tha valley centered by a white orchid and showered with baby's breath. The bride was attended by Misa Frances Sw-eat as maid of honor. Miss Sw’eat, a sister, wore a gown of deep yellow satin made with a fitted bodice, bertha neckline, hu.stle back and a gathered skirt. Her head dress was a band of American Beauty roses and carna tions and she carried a bouquet of carnations. She wore a strand of pearls and satin mitts. The hrklesmaids, Miss Gloria rtpRl of Charlotte, Miss Mary Eliza bPth Bivens of Pickins, S. C., and Miss Margaret Cox of Camden, sis ter of the bridegroom, wore gowns and head dresses identical with that of the maid of honor. Mrs. Sweat, mother of the bride, wore a gown of roy^l blue crepe with a royal blue ostrich tip In her hair. Her gloves were white :.nd her bouquet was a lavender orfhid. The bride’s cake, three-tiered affair, waa on the dining table which was covered with an imported iace cover. White anlifiue candelabra with lighted tap ers flanked the <ake on four sides. Assisting the bride and groom ,‘! the reception were Mrs. Bryant A Cox, Mrs. Doyle X. Deal, Mrs. P. .1. Cooper. Mr^ (I. Flavie Cooper, Mrs. George B. Little, Mrs. James T. Cantrell, Mrs. Robert D. The groom's best man was Frank Als- paugh of Winston-Salem, N. C. The bride attended Mary Bald win (college in Staunton, Va. for two years and then entered the University of North Carolina from whence she graduated two years later. She Is a member of the Al pha Delta Pi sorority. The bride groom is a graduate of the Cam den High School where he starred as an athlete in football, basket ball and baseball. He also grad' uated from the University of North Carolina where he was a football ' star. He is a member of the Pi j Kappa Alphia fraternity. During the war he was with the United States Marine Corps where he held the rank of first lieutenant At present he is athletic director and football coach at Union High School at Tarboro, N. C. Dancing began at 9 o’clock and continued until 2 o’clock, with many no-breaks and a special number for League members and their escorts. Henry Westbrook's orchestra of Columbia played for this affair* which was one of the gayest ever held. Officers of the League include: Miss Cary Guthrie, president; Mr,. James Darby, vice president; Miss Frances Rhame, secretary; Mrs. M. B. Williams, treasurer; Mrs. Jul ian Sanders, Jr., corresponding secretary, and Mrs. Wm. Pitts, member-at-large.
