This grand old follow came within a hair of set ting a new all-time steeplechase money mark, still held by Jolly Rlger, and many experts look upon him as the greatest Jumping horse of all time. Another Camden-trained horse, C, V, Whitney's stretch running Phalanx, took the “best threo-year- old award” with 12 votes, nosing out Calumet Farm’s ubiquitous Fervent by only one vote.
