Under a slightly orercast sky the ususl ceremonies which pre cede sll Shr^e Bowl games were carried out with many thousands of people lining the ChJrlotte streets to witness the parade. Some 26 bands from high schools of North and South Carolina took part in the parade which was several miles long. . Leading Shriners from about the nation were present for the bowl game and appeared in automobilee in the procession to the stadium. Just before the kickoff leading Shrine dignitaries presented the players on the two suads with miniature gold football charmj. The kickoff came at 2 o’clock and it was Dick Brewer of North Charleston who .took the initial kick and carried the ball from the South Carolina 16 to the 35. The two teams then setUed down to a ding-dong battle that was one of the most thrilling line battles seen in a Shrine game. No score was made in the first quarter, in the second s yonngter from Greenville named O. O. Crowe, Intercepted a North Carolina pass and sped down the sMriines 83 yards In^o pay dirt.
