The Boxwood group met with Mrs. J. W. Trotter, with Mrs. Frank Wooten, Jr., presiding After business was disposed of Miss Olive Whittredge,. chairman of the Seaboard Park committee, gave an excellent report of the pro gress made over a period of sever al .para toward Improving this park. After the program members of the Pine Tree group Joined the Box wood group to observe a demon stration of potting rooted cuttings given by Miss Helen Harman, pres ident of the Garden Club. Daring the social hoar tea, punch, sandwiches, and cookies were served from an attractively arranged table by Mrs. Trotter and Mrs. George Nicholson, co-hostess from the Pine Tree group. The Holly Tree group was en- lertained by Mrs.^ Mortimer Muller, assisted by Mrs.'G. H. Baum. The chairman, Mrs. J. M. Villeplgne, presided. \ Mr. Roland Goodale made a most iuterestlng and instructive talk on the cultivation of roses from the propogatlon of cuttings to the blooming of the plants. He ex hibited specimens of roses and dis cussed the varieties, preparation of soil, and treatment for Insects and diseases. This group plans to begin the planting of Rectory Square the last of the month. Ellison A lovely wedding of much social prominence was that of Miss Bar bara Frances Braslngton and Jsmet Hagood EHlson, which took place at 8 p. m., Oct. 11, In Shandon Baptist church. The Rev. P. Clyde Helms, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Louis C. Melcher, rector of Trinity Episcopal diurch, offlektted In the presence of a large aammblage of relatives and friends, using the double ring ceremony. Palms, fern and white lighted candles effectively decorated the church. Robert L. Van Doren, organist, and Miss 'Betty Severn of Syracuse, N. Y., vocalist, furnished the wed ding music. The groomsmen w’ere Richard D. Braslngton, brother of the bride. Ell Walker and Beach Brooker all of Columbia, and Alex S. Fant of Union. David O. Ellison, Jr., brother of the bridegroom, Hugh P. I^lllam son and Arthur McI. Griffin, all of Columbia, and Joe C. Beckham of Shelby, NT. C., cousin of the bride, were the senior ushers. Mrs. R. J. Martin (Sophie Elli son) of Augusta, Ga., sister of the bridegroom, was the matron of honor. Her veil of cream Qlaalon with over- veil of Imported rosepolnt lace fell from a cap held in pl^e with clust ers of orange blocaoms on either side of the head, and she carried a bouquet of white gladioli bells and tuberoses centered with a pur ple-throated white orchid. Robert E. Elllaon of Greenwood, brother of the bridegroom, was the best man. Mrs. Benjamin Cecil Braslngton, On the bride's table, covered with un Italiaa cut-work’ cloth, was a lovely white floral arrangement, white candles and the beautifully embossed tier^ wedding cake top ped with fresh white flowers. Mixed tall flowers with tapers were used elsewhere throughout the club. During the evening the bride and bridegroom left for their wedding trip and upon their return to Co lumbia will reside on Devereaux road. For traveling the bride wore a suif of magenta wine gabatdine, matching hat, blue blouse, brown yeptlle accessories and a white or chid corsage. Mrs. Elllaon is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Cecil Bras- ington of Columbia, formerly of fliarlotte, N. C., and Camden. Her mother was, before marriage, Corinne Lewis of Camden. 'Hie bride attended high school in Char lotte and High Point, and the Wom an’s college of the University of North Carolina for two years, where she was president of the freshman class and elected a mar- rhal, In*^ the I)|kean society. She was graduated in music from the University of South Carolina In 1946. At Carolina she was presi dent of the Coed association and Alpha Delta PI sorority, a' member of Alpha Kappa Gamma, Braux Arts and Honor Board, in the May court and elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Her picture appeared In the beauty section of Garnet and Black. Mrs. Ellison attended the 1946 Assembly ball in Ckdumbla and she Is a member of the Spinst ers’ club of this city. After gradu ation she studied piano witb ^win Hu^es In New York city and last yhar was a member of the music faculty of Wesleyan college, Ma con, Ga. Mr. Ellison is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Gatllard Ellison, Sr. of Columbia, his mother being the for mer Sophie Aldrich of Barnwell. He was graduated from Cqlumbia high school and attended the Uni versity of South Carolina, prior to entering the service. At the uni versity he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Kappa Sigma fraternities and Beaux Arts club. The bridegroom served in the Marine corpe for S8 months and since bis discharge has been a<'so- elated with his father In the David G. Ellison Insurance agency in Co lumbia. Mr. EUliaon is a member of the American Legion, Marine Corps league.
