Friday afternoon the children who participated In the summer riding club were Invited to Ute library to enjoy a lovely picnic aa a reward for the dilligent r.'ork (lone through the summer months in the Reading Club. Outdoor games were played, sup ervised by Miss Ada Phelps and delicious punch was served throughout the evening, also cook ies and ice cream. The certificates were graciously presented by Miss Helen Phelps, who a few aummers ago conducted ‘he story-hour at the County Lib rary, and whom the children love dearly. Pii^h Club Met at Cheraw Beach ML PUnmh Home Demonstration Club held a social mMtiag at Cheraw Beach Wednesday. The Mt. pisgab club, having bad ell their required meetings to get credit, decided that the August uieetlag wpuld be a picnic at the beach. Early in the morning the' ladlrs got boxes and drinks ready tor Ig of the club boys and girls were going to add Jest gnd peix to the group. The party arrived at the “Bfrich” about 10 o’clock and in a short lime all the boys and girls had on their awimming suita and were naving a deUghtful time. Mackey gave a de lightful party on Wednesday afte^ noon at her home on Laurens street In honor of her two daughters, Oliver and “Gee Gee” who cele^ brated their birthdays recently. Oliver who was five on July 13 and “Gee Gee” who was four on September 16. Games were played and later in the afternoon the two beantifully decorated birthday cakes were cut by the young bonorees and served with ice cream and punch to the 50 guests. Assisting Mrs. Mackey were Mrs. W. F. Nettles, Sr., grandmother of Oliver and “Gee Gee” and Mrs. W. F. Nettles. E^ducatlon News of Sep tember carries a very interesting article for South Carolina Daugh ters of the American Revolution on the Tomossee wOTks now held at our school in August. One hundred twenty-six from 46 county education assoclationa at tended for a three-days conference and the Tamassee County Educa tion association carried out a fine ly planned program. Dr. R. B. Marston was the main speaker and gave an Inspiring ad dress. All departments of educa tion were studied and developed and the S. C. public health depart ment was repfesented by Miss Julia Brunson.
