Couple Will Make Their Home In Columbia Miss Marie Holland, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. L. D.' Hol land of this city, and now residing In Columbia, became the bride of Conrad Vander Meulen ot Newaygo, Mich., at a candle-light ceremony in the First Baptist church here on toe evening of April II. Rev. noyd Montgomery officiating The double ring ceremony was used and the bride was given In marriage by her brother. J, R. Hol land. The bride was attended by her sister, Mrs. Belle WUMams of tola city, and the groom by Robert Vender Meulen, a brother from Howand City, Mich. The ushers were Leonard Price and Chalmers Hornsby. The ceremony took place In front of a white arch entwined wHh smllax, floor baskets of white glsdiola against a background of smllax and palms and lighted tap ers In floor candelabras. The musical part of the program was provided by Mrs. F. N. Mc- Corkle at the organ and A. C. Mc- Kaln, vocalist. The bride was attired In a gown of white taffeta fashioned with a white bodice, sweetheart neckline and bracelet-length sleeves. The full skirt was trimmed with ruffles from waist to hem in plastic ef fect She wore a finger Up veil and a single strand of pearls. She carried a white prayer book topped with orchids. The matron of honor wore a Hght pink crepe dress fash ioned with a fitted bodice and fall skirt with matching mitts and head dress. She carried a nosegay of mixed flowers. Following the church ceremony, a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Williams of this city. Mrs. Williams being a sis ter. The bridal party were assisted in toe recepUon line by Mr. and Mrs. Williams. The bride’s table was covered with a lace table cloth effectively decorated with an arrangement of Ivy and Spirea. It was centered by a three-tiered wedding cake sur mounted* by a miniature bride nnd groom. Flanking the cake on either side were tall crystal holders hold ing lighted tapers. The rooms of the Williams home were effectively trimmed with spring flowers. Following a wedding trip to Mich igan. the young feonple will return to. make their home at 1013 Wood- row street In Columbia. For the wedding trip the bride wore s twu- plece yellow suH with blsck patent accessories and an orchid corsage. The groom Is a son of Mrs Sophie Maves and the late John Vander Meulen. Horse Show Is Planned at Hartsville The Junior Chamber of Com merce of Hartsville Is sponsoring a Pee Dee horse show at the Coker college stable on Wedneaday, May 14. at 2 p. m. The show Is given primarily to give the horse lovers of this sec tion a chance to show their horse# without having to travel great dis tances. There will be the following classes: pony, pony race, hack, pleasure horse, ladles ^leaaure, horse, driving, Jumping, children’s horsemanship, youth horsemanship, college horsemanship, three-gaited and five gaited.
